Match Reports 8th FEB 2020

Why aren’t there any scores / results in the match reports?
This is due to FA guidance to prohibit results and league tables for teams playing from under-7s to under-11s.
“Children are competitive by nature, they want to win and don’t need a league table or results section on a website to confirm this. Our ambition is for football to be progressive and child-friendly and to move away from the win-at-all-costs mentality that has been recognised to stifle development and enjoyment in sport.”

Vikings
Another good performance against a spirited Atherton Town Panthers. 2 goals for Deacon ⚽⚽, 1 for Maverick ⚽ and 1 for Carter ⚽️ Excellent defending all-round and a clean sheet was a great result.
2nd game saw us come up against a very well organised Pennington Pumas, we started the game on the front foot and stormed into an early lead with 2 goals from Jacob T ⚽⚽. Some big moments in the game when Jacob C, Maverick, Carter & Ethan went through 1-on-1 with their keeper only to be denied by some awesome saves which eventually had a big impact on the final result. MOTM went to Jacob T, he covered every blade of grass & had a ”never give up“ attitude.

Avengers
A slow start from the Avengers saw them go down to the visitors early on but the shock of conceding within the first 2 minutes seemed to wake the players up and some good attacking team play saw the Avengers score twice in quick succession. The second half was end to end action with both teams having lots of chances to increase the goal tally but great defending and some great shot stops from Adam kept the score down.
Goals scored today, J with a brace ⚽⚽ and Sam with the opener ⚽ with all 3 assists coming from play maker Dylan. P.O.M goes to Tom🏅for his great work rate through out the game constantly chasing and closing down the opposition and getting in some great tackles when we weren’t in possession, he also showed some great close ball control when racing up the wing and hitting the opposition on the break well done young man 👏👏👏
A great game to watch today well done each and every Avenger 🧡⚽🖤🧡⚽🖤

Ninjas
Strong and dominant performance from the Ninjas to be leading by 4 at half time. Great opportunity in the second half to play ninjas in new positions which they did fantastic in👍
Nice to have 5 different goal scorers today which shows the amount of effort they all put in so well done to Sam W⚽️, Jacob⚽️, Oliver⚽️, Alfie⚽️ and Emily⚽️ for their goals.
Great performance from Jacob🏅 on the left wing and then solid in defence to get player of the match.

Spartans
Excellent performance from all the boys today, showed great spirit and determination. Easily the best team in the first half coming in in-front. A few players wanted to change positions in the second half and we still played well but things got a bit scrappy. We were still trying to play our passing football but sometimes it didn’t come off which led to the other team getting in front but the lads carried on playing football and grabbed a well earned last minute equaliser. Spoiled a bit by the other team not using the respect rope, being a bit sweary and complaining about every brilliant decision the referee (Jonny) made. MOTM was Freddie. Great in goal and worked his socks off. Well done boys and well done to the referee. Great performance 😜⚽️

Predators
In keeping with the weather the Predators themselves took time to warm up. 1st match vs Turton saw plenty of chances created but the ending was wanting. Strong runs and battling challenges all over the pitch saw the game just needing that killer finish and it finally came from a silky run by the Bobster and calmly slotted home. Great work from the whole team pressing and battling for the ball the whole game.
2nd game vs Daisy Hill was made into 6v6 due to squad numbers but the Predators all adapted well and each player gave their own best individual performances yet worked the ball around with some timely passing and lethal finishing. Again all the team worked hard to press and win the ball and then to create chances moving the ball in 3v1 and 3v2 was nice to see. Lovely weaving runs from Riley and deft touches to the wide players backed up by Bobby’s 1-on-1 ability to take a player on and hold the ball up. Skye and Louie put in their two pence in putting in a shift to win the ball and cause the oppo plenty of hassle. Well done to Max on starting our play from the back and being able to get a deserved goal in the second half. Some great play on the wings from Declan and Mac caused no end of trouble and a deserved MOM to Mac for the constant effort in getting back but not only finding the space to receive the ball and score 4 goals but to also provide some great crosses that allowed Bob and Declan to finish them off. Last by no means least goes to Alfie in net who when called upon made sure he was aware and closed the players down and put in a solid stint between the sticks.
Well done Predators

Titans
Was a hard one today, came up against a very skilful team, we held our own throughout, playing on a bigger pitch than usual and 7v7 3x 12 mins, with players missing as well so no subs we can hold our heads up high!! Cerys did great in the goals and Josh did some great defensive work both being awarded joint POM, just couldn’t manage break them down through midfield and nick a goal but these Bolton teams are showing their quality in recent weeks and are what we can hopefully build to be like.

Knights
Two superb games on a lovely winter morning at Pennington FC.
1st game against Rammy Plate was a game of two halves. 1st half started well with a fantastic individual ⚽ from Austin, he caught the other team napping with a mazy run from the half way line and finished with a super strike. A 2nd goal for Knights was disallowed just before half time after the opposition coach spotted a handball in the box. The 2nd half was a different game, Plate went into 2nd gear and Knights struggled to contain. We should build on the first half performance as the Knights played at their best, lots of good football from all of the boys 👏🏻.
2nd game against Pennington Panthers was a fantastic Knights performance with their best result to date. All the boys played well against a tough tackling team. Goals from Oliver ⚽⚽⚽, William ⚽⚽, Isaac ⚽⚽️⚽ and I think Joshua ⚽. Freddie and Lenny had some great individual runs and could easily have been on the score sheet as well.
Oliver got the trophy this week for scoring 3 goals and excellent tackling. It could have quite easily gone to William, Austin or Isaac who all played at their best in both games.
Well done Knights 💪🏻
