Slow start to the first game of season but the ninjas got their heads down and focused on playing football to get a win.
Thought the opposition played well with only 6 players and the extra player made the difference, but well done to Mossbank for continuing to play.
Good goals from Alfie⚽️⚽️, Oliver⚽️, and Sam O⚽️
Hard work from Alfie today to get player of the match🏅

Tough start to the season against a physical side. We had a slow start and were under a lot of pressure but did well to get back into the game by the end of the first half with a well worked corner. We had a bit of bad luck in the second half with a couple of goals but we kept trying and kept a positive attitude. Well done Ellie for making some great runs upfront in your first ever game for the Spartans. Luca did a great job in nets in the first half making some important saves. Isaac kept battling away in the middle of the park and never gave up. Good assist from Oliver and finish by Jacob. Tommy and Alexander worked well as a defensive unit making some important clearances ⚽️🥅

Good start to the season for the Predators. Showed our dominance right from kick off with the opposition needing to introduce an extra player early on. Great to see individual skill, passing and battling for the ball from every player. Goals today came from Louie ⚽️⚽️⚽️ well done on the Hatrick, Declan ⚽️⚽️ nice brace with many assists. Bob ⚽️⚽️ Riley ⚽️ Sam ⚽️ and 1 own goal from the opposition keeper. The team yet again did everything we asked for them today, using the width of the pitch to create space in the middle which worked brilliantly and to be as relentless in the second half as we were in the first. Bella and Luis both came close to scoring their first league goals but it wasn’t to be, keep playing like that and they will come. Quiet one for Alfie in goal today but was on it when we needed him – well played pal. Defence played well but higher up than usual due to the dominant play and did a great job also for us with Skye, Luis, Bella, Dec and Riley leading the back line for us at some point in the game. Fantastic result and great to see us play the right way. Well done Predators give yourselves a pat on the back. Keep it up, you have set the bar high for yourselves. Let’s play with that level of confidence every week. 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡

1st game against FC Bridgewater Sharks. The opposition were well organised, attacked with pace, created space and were also quite a physical team who defended well. The Knights struggled to cope with the attacks and Sharks were also well capable of shooting from distance, so they bagged a few goals in the first half. We were allowed to bring on another player and this evened play up a little bit, Harry managed to get a ⚽ back and the second half was better for the Knights. Overall, Sharks were the better team and deserved the win.
2nd game was against Rammy Raptors. We’ve played this team a couple of times recently and we are fairly evenly matched on ability but the Raptors were on top today. They have got one or two players who can take the ball forward and the Knights had a leaky defence which struggled to cope with the two Raptors forwards. We managed to get two ⚽ each for Harry and Oliver but it wasn’t enough to take the win and the Raptors took a deserved win.
Slightly different outcome than last week, the boys were a little out of sorts today and seemed to be a bit lethargic. I guess the first full week back at school may have had an impact on energy levels. Oliver got the 🏆 this week, he showed some good footwork going forwards and looked a constant threat going forwards with the ball. Oliver also stepped up to cover for injuries when we needed him.

Great game today guys, some awesome football played, followed by some amazing goals.
Well done to Maverick for getting “Man of the match”, I’ve had a brill time as the vikings coach.
Thanks everyone 🙌🏻

Big day today, I always see the first league game at under-7s as a milestone – a moment in time to look back on and cherish!!
1st match and no messing about from our boys, they got themselves lined up in their familiar positions against TURTON TIGERS BLUES; Jude as GK, Tommy sat deep, Cal marauding the midfield with Lewis and Evan on the wings. After 5 mins and 3 goals to the good Seth and Cole came off the bench to get stuck-in, building on their good performances from last week. Moment of the match came from Evan; with Carson out ill Evan was deployed on the right flank, staying in space for long periods of the game and then finally… his patience paid off as the ball broke to him as he simply tapped home ⚽️🙌🏼
2nd match against LITTLE LEVER or should we say Giant Lever… they had some big lads and i saw some worried little Leigh faces when they walked on the pitch BUT by golly we gave them a good fight. So so chuffed with the heart and determination that the JEDI showed, every single one of them put in a shift and Lewis showed his force with 3 quality goals ⚽️⚽️⚽️

This was the Troopers first match of the new football season and you could tell, the sun was shining and there was excitement in the air.
With a lucky rock Joe smashed the other teams scissors so we was to kick off first. From the whistle we could tell it was going to be a good game , we mainly dominated the pitch with amazing passes and tackles from Charlie and lightning running down the wing from Feddie and Elsa . Plenty of pressure put on by Archie and Joe created lots of goals for us , with super cool Oscar in our nets and a solid defence he didn’t have much to worry about. You could tell their training positions was paying off. In the end the other team was playing 7 to our 5. But to be fair to the other team they never gave up and their keeper did a couple of impressive saves.
With a few minutes after the first match we were straight back on for the second game of the morning. The team had tired legs from the first game but they continued to give maximum effort. Fresh keeper Freddie in the nets had 2 absolutely amazing saves and the other team knew we weren’t going to be a push over. Troopers soaked up the pressure and were unlucky as a shot just passed Freddie’s fingertips.
Superb passing and dribbling led us to making the score even with a goal from Joe but with them having a little more rest than us Atherton went on to score 1 more towards the end. Every Trooper gave their all, the performance was outstanding 👏 we were the better team and if we played them first we would have won. A great day was had by all, these young players are a credit to the club and a massive thanks to the parents for their continued support towards Luke and I.

Leigh United Avengers ‘v’ BOLTON UNITED
The season opener was our first competitive game to be played at Gilded Park and a cracking game it was too.
The Avengers started strongly and controlled much of the 1st half but it was the visitors who hit the back of the net 1st on the 18th minute. The team stuck to the game plan and managed to get the equaliser on the 25th minute with a lovely curling shot from outside the box into the corner from Freddie. The 2nd half had only just started when the Avengers 2nd goal went in on the 31st minute, a floated cross in from the right wing was met by Jolon who smashed into the opponents net. The game was end to end action with both teams having plenty of chances to increase their tallies but it was the opposition that who managed to get the ball over the line on the 44th minute to equalise. The last 15 minutes was nail biting as the Avengers struggles to clear their lines or make the ball stick to feet and the opposition made us pay when they broke and scored what was the winner on the 51st minute. The team didn’t give up and created several chances right up to the final whistle but it wasn’t to be.
P.O.M goes to Lucas 🏅 the way you have taken to the new formation and implemented the coaches tactics is brilliant to see and your work rate was excellent today keep it up your a Gary Neville in the making 👏👏👏
Unlucky Avengers it wasn’t the result we were all hoping for but there are plenty of positives to be taken from the game and I’m confident that if we carry on and work as a team we will get the results we deserve.
