????? Fantastic team performance today away Vs Horwich Steamers. We looked confident and hungry from the off and it was clear within the opening minutes that we were going to be a real handful for the opposition.
The Spartans dominated the first half with the Steamers rarely troubling Laken in goal. Our latest signing Harry made his debut from the bench coming on in the 12th minute to score his first goal ? with his second touch of the game. Boom ?! The highlight of the first half for me was a fantastically worked team goal that started from in our own half and then we passed it around their players culminating with a top corner finish from Tommy on the edge of the box – belisimo!!! Great to see that big smile ? on his face! Interplay like that makes the game look easy as we let the ball do the work. It was great to see players keeping their heads up enabling them to spot and make the right pass.
The second half carried on in the same way the first half finished with more dominance from the Spartans. To try to even it up and make the game more competitive we gave the opposition 2 of our players. I was really impressed with Tommy’s attitude who saw the bigger picture when asked to switch teams ? ? . Really impressed with Sienna’s attitude too today after she agreed to play in goal for some of the second half and with Luca for playing the game in the right spirit ? Plenty of goals today scored by Harry ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️, Oliver ⚽️⚽️⚽️, Jacob ⚽️⚽️, Tommy ⚽️, Laken ⚽️ and Charlie ⚽️ with POTM awarded to Tommy ? Although the match was very one sided today, it is important to look at what we learned. As we scored more goals, we lost some of our composure, selflessness and shape with all players wanting to get in on the goal scoring action. It’s important to continue to play as a team for the whole of the match. Today was great for our confidence which hopefully we can taken forward into our next games. Well done everyone!!

It was a stuffy day down at Cadishead. Sun was out and the temperature was closing in on 20degC. The lads did not disappoint if some performances hotter than the weather. 4 games played, 3 wins and 1 loss. Not bad considering there was only 1 sub available between the 2 teams so the lads were not getting much of a break in the heat. Really good to see the pass and move game that’s been practised in training being shown on the pitch. Eli showing some great touches and skills to pass out of tight positions. Theodore was outstanding both in possession and defending and was unlucky with some of his shots and personally was my man of the match. Oliver put in another performance and rounded it off with some pin point shooting. Josef was good in defending putting in 3 or 4 last ditch tackles and a special mention to George Gorski who ran so hard across both games that he had to come off not feeling great earning himself a man of the match award from coach Gaz in the process. Have a great week off guys and see you a week on Monday – Matt Shea

Another good performance today and it was the first time I’ve been able to watch Jacob, Joe, Fletcher, Louis and Will in action. Even after a few games together you can see the boys starting to gel and work together. The goals were shared across the team with some great individual goals but even more pleasing was to see passing that led to several goals. Special shout-out to Will, who at the age 6 seems to have mastered the art of slide tackling with a couple great last minute tackles that definitely stopped them from scoring – Gaz Nolan

Away at Horwich RMI Tornadoes ? except it was Jedi Thomas ⚽️⚽️⚽️ that was leading a path of destruction as he ripped through the opposition team storming into an early 3 goal lead. Thomas was unstoppable all game grabbing two more ⚽️⚽️ and ? man of the match, he inspired the energy levels of the whole team. None of the boys wanted to sub-off today; which I do love, Carson wasn’t happy about having a rest ? and Seth came over at half-time and said “I’m not coming off, I want to stay on” ?. Jude tried to give Horwich a helping hand by going in net for them but his bezzie mate Lewis battered the back of the net with another ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️. A brilliant moment of football learning today from defender Callum, who asked if he could attack if Seth defended and then you could see them both reacting to each other ? A big thank you to our guest goalkeeper Oscar on loan from the Troopers, didn’t have a lot to do but when he did was absolutely awesome!! Please can we get a permanent transfer ?⚽️??

Absolutely fantastic performance from the Knights, the boys really put everything they had into today’s games against a physically bigger BX Bulls side ??
1st game we tried a bigger pitch for a 6 a-side game, it gave the boys a bit more time on the ball but also meant a lot more running for them. There were a few breakaway moments for Knights, with good passes deep from in our half but the Bulls defence coped well with our attacks. We faired reasonably well in defence but Bulls could shoot from distance, grabbing a few good goals as well as a goal mouth scramble which went their way.
2nd game we returned to 5 a-side, made the pitch smaller and the Knights seemed more comfortable. It was a really close game and Knights were the better team for me. Bulls just nicked it in the end with a momentary lapse of concentration from the Knights but we were on top for most of the game and with better shooting boots we would have come out on top. I let Joshua award the ? today and he selected Oliver for his bravery in nets and good defending, well done Oliver ??. William was also worthy of mention, getting a ⚽ from Oliver’s excellent throw in and he also made some excellent runs as well as putting in some great tackles. Freddie was strong again in midfield, Joshua’s work rate was good today and he played in all positions again, Lenny won some battles with those big defenders and Austin went past players down the wings on numerous occasions as well as few shots. The boys played well as a team today, gave ?% effort, listened well to instructions and there wasn’t much squabbling, thanks from me for an enjoyable morning ???

Early kick off usually means a slow start from the predators and we saw a little bit of that for the first 5 minutes vs Prestwich. Leanne being dragged in for emergency coaching duties making some good substitutions in the first half settled the game down after going behind early on. Then the predators started to show how good they were with some great team play, individual skill and a rock solid defence. For the second week on the bounce all the team have stepped up and showed how quickly they are improving. A really strong dominant second half made sure our team got put into the draw for the second round of the cup. Big thank you to Stotty for helping us out with low numbers, great job pal ?. Well done predators looking awesome at the moment. POM today was Bella. Excellent skill, determined tackling and a great attitude ? Goal scorers today Bobs ⚽️⚽️ Stotty ⚽️⚽️
Next round here we come ????
